Are you interested in creating new materials, which open new possibilities in design? It does not matter if you would like to design objects or create fabrics. Through the diversity of the materials, you can do both and even more. The aim of this workshop is to raise interest in working with biomaterials and make the first steps in the direction of sustainable design. At the end of the workshop you receive my biomaterial cookbook with recipes and tipps and tricks of the process.

This workshop will be conducted in English, but there is also another session in German.

Cindy Fodor studied fashion design in Vienna and then she worked as an intern at the Happy Lab where she have learnt the basics of 3D printing and laser cutting. After that she took part in intensive 3D Modelling courses at Atelier 04 and also broaden her knowledge on her own. She designed her first fashion collection named ENIGMA using 3D printing on fabrics and laser cut methods. This collection was shown at the Vienna Fashion Week in 2022. Her ,,Hybrid blouse” design was chosen to showcase at the ,,Wiener Bluse Contemporary” exhibition curated by the Austrian Fashion Board, which could be seen between November 2022 and may 2023 throughout Austria as a traveling exhibition. In autumn 2022 she took part in the Distributed Design Residency Program where her aim was to create biomaterials and experiment with them. Since then she organizes biomaterial workshops, exhibits her work in various cities in Europe and works on her next fashion collection where she again uses the 3D print technology in her design.

Happylab is Vienna's largest makerspace - an open workshop where people can work on their projects around the clock using digital production machines, such as 3D printers and laser cutters, and are supported in realizing their ideas. Regular workshops provide the know-how for using the machines - no prior knowledge needed!
