School of Makers: Designing Injection Molds for Plastic Recycling

In this workshop, Marco Bernardo (Sun Factory) and André Rocha (Fablab Benfica, ESELx) share their knowledge with us on how to easily produce injection molds using Fusion 360 and 3D printing! They will also introduce the sun factory technology (https://distributeddesign.eu/talent/sun-factory/) and best practices in terms of design with emphasis on mold design and production.

Please note: Participants need to bring their own laptop, preferably with Autodesk Fusion 360 installed already, or other parametric design software (solidworks, onshape, freecad, etc). Demo will be made on Fusion360.

Workshop instructors: Marco Bernardo (Sun Factory) / André Rocha (Fablab Benfica, ESELx)
Marco Bernardo and André Rocha are two innovative professionals whose paths intersected at the crossroads of sustainability and design. Marco, a mechanical engineer with a deep passion for sustainability and renewable energy, developed the groundbreaking Sun Factory technology for plastic recycling. His expertise in technical project management and product development has been crucial in bringing this eco-friendly solution to life. André, with his rich background in industrial and product design, coordinates Fablab Benfica and has been instrumental in fostering distributed design initiatives. Their collaboration began during Marco's residency for Distributed Design at Fablab Benfica, where André's experience in digital fabrication and design education complemented Marco's technical innovations. Together, they bring a powerful combination of engineering ingenuity and design thinking to the realm of plastic recycling, embodying the spirit of sustainable innovation and knowledge sharing in their workshop.

Happylab is Vienna's largest makerspace - an open workshop where people can work on their projects around the clock with digital production machines, such as 3D printers and laser cutters, and receive support in realizing their ideas. Regular workshops are conducted to impart the know-how for handling these machines - no prior knowledge necessary! As part of our "School of Makers," members from our community host workshops on various topics. www.happylab.at
